The Katlakalns Library is located in the former courthouse and Katlakalns municipality building, which was built at the end of the 19th century. The library opened in 1907 (on 24 March 1908, according to the statutes) as the library of the Katlakalns Library Association, which was located in the Katlakalns rural municipality building. Jozers Jānis was the first head of the Association, and it had 42 members. The Katlakalns Library Association had a special role – it was not just the founder of the public library and a supporter of cultural groups, but it also arranged educational lectures, theater performances and open-air festivities. After 1974, when Katlakalns village was annexed to Ķekava rural municipality, the hall was used to put up guest workers. The library was renovated by Vaira Lorberga in 1980. For devoting 25 years to the library, she received the title Honorary Person of Ķekava in 2008. The library celebrated its 100th anniversary on 19 October 2007.
