The origins of Ķekava Rural Municipality Library are connected to the social association which was founded in 1907. It was headed by director V. Ramans, who was the organizer of cultural activities. There was also a readers’ club founded in Dole rural municipality by Pēteris Leitis, who was the principal of the 6-grade school of Dole-Ķekava. In 1929 this club had 96 members and a stock of 874 books. In 1937 the number of books had reached 1,275. The earliest books at Ķekava Rural Municipality Library date back to 1947, and so that is regarded as the founding year of the library.
